update friday 18.07. to monday 28.07.

i haven’t been updating. it’s really hard on me not to be able to return to palestine during this. it’s the first time since i first went to palestine that i am in europe when attacks, horrors on this scale happen. during cast lead, i was at least in egypt, with people who felt similar outrage, trying to get to gaza, fighting with the egyptian state/police/military machinery there. here… i don’t have a network of people who feel the rage (how can they not feel it?), that know. and the contrast between daily life and my feelings and thoughts is so stark that it’s paralyzing me, i am struggling to remain somewhat functional.

that said, i want to briefly sum up SOME f the shit that happened in the past few days:

two hospitals were attacked since friday night.

on friday, beit hanoun hospital was shelled for over seven hours. a group of people including internationals in shifa hospital held an emmergency press conference while in touch with their friends in beit hanoun hospital, trying to generate enough pressure to stop the shelling. here is an account of an international in the hospital, here another one, and here is an article.

saturday

just before the truth, on saturday, the occupation army escalated their bombing and shelling and killed at least 20 members of one family among others. read pchr report here. and this article.

on saturday, two more palestinians were assaulted by fascists in jerusalem.

Shejaiya Cemetery, Gaza. Relatives frantically digging graves in an open lot being used as a cemetery. The stream of bodies was too fast for gravediggers to keep up with number of bodies being brought from nearby hospitals. The graves were being marked with cinder blocks from the rubble of nearby buildings destroyed by Israeli shelling. All that identifies where the dead are buried are the pieces of hand-written cardboard. (ayman mohyeldin)
